Flowood Fire Rating

After its recent review, the Mississippi State Fire Rating Bureau gave the Flowood Fire Department a rating of “3” - one step above its previous rating of “4”.  To most folks that may sound like a minor bureaucratic detail, but it actually has a real impact on our community in several ways - and all of them are good. Fire Chief Jeffrey Welborn explained how that rating effects Flowood’s business and residential communities, as well as the visitors to our city.

172d Airlift Wing Celebrates 65 Years

The 172d Airlift Wing will be celebrating 65 years of service in June of 2018. It’s first roll call was in 1953 as the 183d Tactical Reconnaissance Group, with thirteen officers and seventy three airman at Hawkins Field. Today the 172d Airlift Wing has grown to more than fourteen hundred airman to include it’s Geographically Separated Units.

Community Bank recently announced plans to construct a new headquarters in Flowood, as the centerpiece of a larger mixed-use “live, work and play community”. Dubbed “WATERTON”, the development will fulfill the City’s vision of a central downtown in the same location as the “town center” envisioned over a decade ago.
